The project was about re-imaging the kala cotton saree in every aspect. ( kala cotton is an organic strain of cotton indigenous to the Kutch region of India.) A usual Kala cotton saree weighs about 900 grams. The main objective for this project was to achieve a lighter saree. This was achieved by varying denting patterns for the saree. The sarees were woven on a frame loom by Mohan Vankar, a weaver from Awadhnagar, in collaboration with Khamir.
The final weight of the saree achieved by the end of this project was 580 grams. The saree was much lighter and breathable .
